Where we go

Five places, and the reason for each

Cairo

Giza before the coaches, Saqqara, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and Al-Muizz Street on foot.

Luxor

Karnak at opening, the Valley of the Kings early, Luxor Temple after dark.

The Nile

Three nights under sail aboard a dahabiya, mooring where the cruise ships cannot.

Aswan & Nubia

Gharb Soheil, the Nubian Museum, and lunch in a household we have known for years.

The Red Sea

Soma Bay, on the warm-season departures. Reef, water, and nothing on the schedule.

Why this is different

Twelve, and no more

Capped, so that a household can receive us without ceremony.

Egyptian and Nubian

My family is from Aswan, and I spend roughly four months of each year in Egypt.

Twenty-five years on the ground

Our operating partner has run ground programmes in Egypt since 2001.

Nubia, properly

Three nights in Aswan and on its west bank, rather than an afternoon between Luxor and Abu Simbel.

The year ahead

Six departures. Twelve places on each.

I write every itinerary and host two departures each year. The others run the identical route with the same Egyptologists and the same ground team, and cost less because they cost less to run.

In their words

“I truly felt like I experienced all of Egypt. I did not leave with that nagging feeling of missing out.”

Your host

Every itinerary is mine. I host selected departures.

I am Fawziah — Nubian-Egyptian and American. My family is from Aswan, and I spend roughly a third of each year in Egypt. I am also a professor of education, and the discipline of building a course is the discipline of building a journey: sequence matters, context matters, and nothing of value is learned at a sprint.
